Why does wellness matter?

Have you ever heard this phrase?  Well, it's true!  Many of us have been guilty of getting so wrapped up in school that we forget to take care of ourselves.  We all handle the stress of dental school differently and it's important to find time to care for yourself before you get to the point of burnout.  If we don't take care of ourselves, we make it pretty difficult to provide the best care for our patients and to be great lifelong colleagues to each other.  Wellness is a choice to pursue a happy, healthy, well-balanced life.

Five Dimensions of Wellness

ASDA stresses the importance of wellness by encouraging members to focus on the following dimensions of wellness:

  • Emotional
  • Physical
  • Intellectual
  • Occupational
  • Environmental
